Why it matters

Why Bottom Painting Matters

Slower boats and higher fuel bills

Left unprotected, a hull attracts barnacles, algae, and other marine growth all season long. That growth creates drag in the water, which slows a boat down and forces the engine to work harder to hold the same speed, burning more fuel in the process.

Protection for the hull itself

Bottom paint forms a barrier between the hull and constant water exposure, helping guard fiberglass against blistering and wood against rot after season upon season of saturation.

Growth is easier to prevent than remove

Marine growth left to build up over a season is far harder and far more costly to scrape and clean off than it is to prevent with a fresh coat of paint before the boat goes back in the water.

The right paint for the right boat

Not every hull needs the same coating. The right bottom paint depends on the boat, how often it is used, and whether it sits in fresh or saltwater, which is why getting matched with the right product matters.
