Winterization I/O & Stern Drive

We offer 2 options for I/O and Stern Drive winterization, the Basic or Complete Service.

All stern drives require a tune up in the spring.

Basic or Complete Service

Basic Service

The minimum required to safely store your engine for the winter. Does not include the drive being serviced or the engine oil changed.

  • Stabilizing the fuel tank
  • Engine run up
  • Fogging the engine
  • Draining water from the cooling system
  • Courtesy inspection of boat and trailer

Complete Service

All Basic winterizing procedures, plus a full outdrive service. Recommended every 2 years.

  • Engine oil and filter change
  • Outdrive removed and serviced
  • Drive pump serviced, where applicable
  • Any bad seals replaced
  • Universal joints and splined shafts cleaned, lubricated, and reinstalled
Good to know

All parts are billed at the time of drive reinstall in the spring. All stern drives require a tune up in the spring.

Why it matters

Why Winterizing is Not Optional

Frozen water causes real damage

Water left in the cooling system or engine block can freeze and expand, cracking components that are far more expensive to replace than a routine winterization.

Fuel breaks down while sitting

Untreated fuel can degrade over months of storage, leading to a rough running engine or a harder start come spring.

The outdrive needs attention too

Seals, universal joints, and splined shafts inside the outdrive wear from use, and a periodic service catches problems before they turn into a bigger repair the following season.
